After some time trying to avoid the latest internet meme, I finally have given in. This 'game' is making its way around the internet and Facebook. Here are the rules as found in Facebook:
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
So here are 25 random things about me:
- My dad bought me my first computer. It was an IBM PS2, 80286, with Microsoft Windows/286 (2.1x).
- I was terrified to become a father. Three kids later... I still am terrified.
- My first paying job was at Sears Portrait Studio. Now I would never take my kids or suggest others take their kids to a place like that.
- Growing up I had cats as pets. My wife and son are allergic to cats; so that is one pet I will never have again.
- When I was in high school, being a geek was not a desirable trait. Now I don't mind being a geek.
- I'm a spender and a gadget person, but strangely I hate buying TV's, cell phones and cars.
- My favorite super hero is Batman. (He's a gadget guy with no real super powers)
- I was born and raised in Green Bay and used to have Packer players ride my bike to the practice field, while I ran alongside.
- I have a fear of unnatural heights. Bridges, buildings, etc. Natural heights like mountains don't bother me.
- In college, I taught my FORTRAN teacher how to use the computer and how to use the compiler. He still gave me a B.
- I am the youngest of 5 kids. I have a brother and three sisters and would do anything for them.
- I married a non-geek. She keeps me in the real world and I love her for that.
- I am terrified of flying. My Godfather died in a plane crash.
- I have designed and hand wire-wrapped computers.
- I kept my long 80's hair cut all the way through the 90's until one day I just decided to have short hair.
- My favorite food item is a Cheeseburger. My kids don't like cheeseburgers.
- I know over 15 computer languages, most of which are now obsolete.
- My Mom died in 2001. I still miss her almost every day.
- I first saw Star Wars, at a drive-thru, with a neighborhood friend and his family. One of our other friends was not allowed to go along because his mother said "they cut off a monkey's arm."
- I love watching hockey. I make a good spectator, but would not make a good player.
- I know what a regular expression is and I'm not afraid to use one.
- When I was 6 years old, I learned how to downhill ski.
- When I was young, I was a really picky eater. I am only slightly better now.
- My most "Tivo-ed" show on my TV is Good Eats.
